Welcome to Rhuddlan Golf Club. The Jewel in The Vale of Clwyd. Our gently undulating parkland course of 6500 yards, SSS 70, par 72 affords splendid views of The Clwydian Range and The Vale of Clwyd, with Snowdonia beyond.

Rhuddlan is a very popular venue attracting many visiting societies, company days, and individual golfers from far and wide.

We were honoured to host the Welsh Men’s Team Championships in 1993 and the Women’s Welsh Open in 2010 and have been regularly chosen as a venue for county and national championship events and in 2017 we hosted the Welsh Men’s Team Championships.

The club was established in 1930 as a nine hole course and then extended to eighteen five years later in 1935. Rhuddlan was affiliated to the Welsh Golfing Union in 1938, the year of our first recorded visiting party! The course has undergone several modifications of layout, including the loss of four holes for the war effort. In 1962 the club employed the services of Hawtree & Co. who redesigned the course, and that layout was kept for 23 years. In 1985 when the club was offered an extra 30 acres Hawtree & Co. was recalled to extend and develope our course, this included the planting of over 5000 trees. These copses supplemented the other parkland trees, and then with a further five acres planted in 1996/7; these are the basis of the course we still enjoy. In 1991 a new building was completed which houses our PGA professional Bryan Jolsen-Mahall and his extremely well stocked pro’s shop. The clubhouse was redesigned in 1993/1994 and offers comfortably furnished bars and restaurant facilities.

Whether you visit Rhuddlan Golf Club as individual guests, as club or society members, or as competitors in one of our many open events, our aim remains the same – to welcome you and to make your day an enjoyable and memorable experience. We are confident that you will share the pleasure of our many regular visitors who appreciate the challenge of our course, its design, condition, and presentation, and equally the welcome of our clubhouse – golf as it should be!

What people say about us

Everyone enjoyed the course which was presented in such excellent condition. Please pass on our thanks to all your staff for looking after us both on and off the course.

The course was in superb condition, we heard the catering was good and we were not disappointed, our meal was excellent and the service was brilliant.

Everybody had a wonderful time and was very well looked after by both your caterers and bar staff. A big thank you to all your club for a wonderful day.

Given my previous correspondence on this matter, I just wanted to send a short note to say how impressed I have been of late with the course at Rhuddlan-it is so much tidier and in better condition than 18 months ago. The improvements are most noticeable around the tees, greens and bunkers- these areas get a lot of wear and tear and quickly deteriorate- and the greens are putting truer than last year. It is credit to John and his team for their continued hard work in achieving so much and creating a course that all members can enjoy playing and be pround of. Their efforts are much appreciated. Yours sincerely E W Evans.
